Student Assistance Program
The purpose of the Texas Allied Poultry Association Student Assistance Program is to provide financial help to undergraduate college students pursuing undergraduate degrees in poultry science and related fields.
The assistance will be in the form of financial aid for tuition, lab fees, books, and other needs as determined by the TAPA Scholarship Committee. Assistance will be determined annually based on fundraising levels.
Scholarships will be awarded based on need demonstrated by an application and 400-word minimum essay submitted to the TAPA Scholarship Committee.
The following criteria must be met for consideration:
Student must have completed sophomore equivalency:
Student must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 with a minimum GPA of 2.75 within their major discipline.
In addition to the above criteria, other determining factors will include extracurricular activities, leadership ability, and work ethic.
The Texas Allied Poultry Association awards three different types of scholarships. All scholarship applicants must meet the above criteria for consideration. Some scholarships have additional requirements and students must specify the scholarship for which they are applying. The individual types are as follows:
General TAPA Scholarship
Jimmy Singleton and K.E. Jacobs Memorial Scholarships
TAPA/TPF Childrens Scholarship
General TAPA Scholarship
Students must meet the basic requirements for TAPA Student Assistance Program. These requirements include a complete application and a four hundred-word essay that should give a description of the student and outline why the student deserves consideration for the TAPA scholarship.
TAPA will award scholarships to students at both Texas A+M and Stephen F. Austin State University.
If no qualified applicants apply, the scholarship committee reserves the right not to award scholarships.
Jimmy Singleton and K.E. Jake Jacobs Memorial Scholarship
Students must meet the basic requirements of the TAPA Student Assistance Program. These requirements include a complete application and a 400 word minimum essay that should give a description of the student and outline why the student deserves consideration for the TAPA scholarship.
The candidates family should include an active member of the Texas Poultry Federation or one of its affiliates.
The candidates family is a commercial grower for the poultry industry.
TAPA will award a scholarship in each name at both Texas A+M and Stephen F. Austin State University if approved by the scholarship committee.
TAPA/TPF Childrens Scholarship
Students must meet the basic requirements of the TAPA Student Assistance Program. These requirements include a complete application and a 400 word minimum essay that should give a description of the student and outline why the student deserves consideration for the TAPA scholarship.
Applicants are not limited to agricultural disciplines.
Applicants parent must be an active member of TAPA or TPF.
Applicants are not limited to Texas A+M or Stephen F. Austin State University.
Successful applicants will be determined based on their academic performance, leadership ability, extracurricular activities as demonstrated in their essay, and parental involvement in TPF.
Additional Scholarships can be added depending upon student response.
Final selections will be made by an outside committee.
Must have completed and passed 24 hours.
Deadline For Application
Deadline for receipt of all application material is September 15. Application and essay must be sent to the address on the application.
Winner determination will be made during the month of November. Scholarships will be awarded directly to the University Scholarship Accounts and will be credited toward your tuition for the spring semester. Dispensation in a manner other than the above method can be arranged for special circumstances on a case by case basis as approved by the TAPA Scholarship Committee. Successful candidates cannot be awarded this scholarship for more than a total of $3000.00.
